On July 23rd, 2016, we received a complaint that you would have violated procedures. According to the complaint, you would have accepted tips the night before from a guest. You were suspended with pay pending our investigation of this complaint.
Our investigation shows that on the night of July 22, 2016 – July 23, 2016, a customer won an amount at one of our tables. The customer gave a tip in chips to the dealer who was dealing the cards when he won, and gave you the equivalent of US$ 500,-- in chips. Our shift Manager told us that he saw you accepting chips and that he asked you whether that was a tip for you. According to the Shift Manager, you answered affirmative, and the Shift manager then mentioned that this was not allowed.
Based on the procedures, you could have either refused the tip, give the tip to the dealer at the table or “lock” the tip. You were then seen handing chips to the dealer that had dealt the winning hand to the customer in question, whereupon the dealer deposit the chips in his individual tip box.
Further investigation however shows that you asked (or possibly instructed) the dealer to cash the US$ 500,-- on your behalf, and give the US$ 500,-- to your wife, who was in the casino at that time. According to the dealer, after you instructed him to cash the tips on your behalf and give it to your wife, he even asked you whether this was not against procedures. According to the dealer, you told him not to worry about it, that you had “cleared” it. He then proceeded to cash the chips on your behalf as requested by you and gave the money to your wife, folded in a paper towel. The video footage shows the dealer counting money I the dealer’s room, putting money in the paper towel and later-on giving this same paper towel to your wife.
